The Worlds Smallest Pacemaker

No Wires, No Cuts, No Stitches

A pacemaker (size of tea bag) is a small device with a computer chip, with a built-in power source in the form of batteries that is equivalent to size of coin. This battery-powered device sends electrical energy via 1 or 2 wires called leads which are placed inside the right upper (atrial) or right lower (ventricle) chambers of the heart. Conventionally, it monitors the electrical activity in the heart and does not allow the heart beat to slow down below a set limit. These traditional pacemakers are surgically implanted under your skin in the upper chest below the collar bone.
