- Dr. Nihar Pradip Mehta, a leading consultant cardiologist in Mumbai has successfully performed several complex Heart Valve replacements without sutures/stitches.
- He has been trained all over the globe – completing an Advance Fellowship in Structural Heart Disease and TAVI at the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Institute (GOKVI) in Budapest, Hungary from January to June 2022. He has performed between 150-200 cases with various complex anatomies and difficulties. He has also been trained in Mount Sinai, New York and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, the USA for interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. Additionally, he has received a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from Asan Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.
- Dr. Mehta has a special interest in minimally invasive TAVI – transcatheter aortic valve replacement/implantation where patients undergo aortic valve replacement without general anesthesia, without stitches/sutures and are discharged within 3-4 days of admission.
- In August 2021, he performed the first-ever Mitra Clip Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair heart surgeries in Western and Central India in Mumbai. This procedure is done in patients who have leakage of the mitral heart valve.
- In April 2019, Dr. Mehta also successfully performed the First Caval Valve Implantation (CAVI) on a patient with Carcinoid Heart disease, a rare case that has been quoted in many journals across Europe and America.

- Besides, he is acknowledged for his expertise in interventional cardiology, complex angioplasty and stenting, cardiac intravascular imaging, Heart Failure & Hypertension.
- After doing his MBBS and MD from KJ Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai in 2003 and 2008 respectively, winning numerous medals and awards at both levels, including standing First in the state in MBBS, Dr. Nihar subsequently completed a number of additional advanced training courses in Seoul (South Korea), New York (USA), Los Angeles (USA) and Budapest (Hungary).
- He was also nominated for the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London and has also become an examiner for the college.
- Dr. Mehta has also authored a number of research papers that have been published in reputed Indian and international journals, made presentations at various conferences worldwide and held key positions in professional associations such as the Association of Physicians of India, and the Hypertension Society of India, among others.
